The International Polyphonic
Meeting “Città di Fano” is an high level polyphonic choirs event organised by
Coro
Polifonico Malatestiano di Fano.
Since
1974, the Festival, with the participation of hundreds choirs coming from almost
every country, distinguishes itself
as a remarkable artistic event, properly
included among the most successful and qualified European and extra European
choral festivals, a prestigious and longed landmark for choral groups expressing
their musical culture at the highest level.
A
careful selection of the participating choirs and a qualified organisation by an
experienced Artistic Board assures that the Festival quality, edition after
edition, is constantly growing.
The
International Polyphonic Meeting proposes a wide program of polyphonic music,
representative of the world
most different and meaningful artistic expressions.
How to Participate
The
Festival, held on the second week of September, takes place in various evening
performances.
Each choir
will perform in two different evenings concerts whose duration
is about 20 minutes.
Usually
the concerts are held in a church, in San Paterniano Basilica, and for this
reason the polyphonic music have to be suitable with the place.
The Gala concert, the opening or closing concert with different
repertoires, on the contrary, may be held in the beautiful Teatro della Fortuna
or in the baroque San Pietro in Valle auditorium church
No
obligatory composition is request: the concerts programs, freely chosen by each
choir Conductor, must be anyway agreed with the Festival Artistic Committee.
Our
Organisation provides accomodation (board and lodging) in Hotel for all the
participating choirs, till a maximum of 40 people, for all their stay in our
town.
The
travel expenses are charged to the participating choir.
Each
choir interested in taking part in a next Festival edition is requested to send:

2.
Photos (choir and Conductor) if possible in W & B
3.
A recent recording, preferably
on CD
we ask you also to specify:
1.
the usual number of the choral group singers
2.
if can perform a folk repertoire, with instruments or popular costumes
3.
a useful e-mail address
4.
a responsible telephone or mobile number for emergency calls

Composer,
conductor and violinist, he studied at the Liceo Musicale in Arezzo and the
Conservatory of Florence, attended courses in composition at the Scuola di
Musica di Fiesole Chigiana and the Academy of Siena.
As director of the choir he graduated in three-year course of professional
qualifications held by the Fondazione "Guido d'Arezzo" in Arezzo
studying with R. Clemencic, D, and G. Fasolis Graden.
Plays intense activity as director with Insieme vocale "Vox Cordis"
and "the Hesperimenta Vocal Ensemble" in Arezzo, with these groups has
won several awards and first prizes in national and international competitions
(Arezzo, Gorizia, Lugano, Vittorio Veneto, nSenilis).
In 2007 he won two first prizes of the International Competition for Choir
Directors "Mariola Ventre" of Bologna.
He studied composition with Masters R.Mirigliano, R. Pezzati, C. Togni, he
attended seminars and master with L. Berio, A. Corghi, P. Dusapin, E. Moricone,
S. Sciarrino.
His compositions have been performed in various European countries, marked by
ensemble and soloists and published by several prestigious Italian publishing
houses.
He collaborates with various cultural institutions such as the National
Association of Choirs of Toscana, Fondazione "Guido d'Arezzo", the
FENIARCO.
He has taught in the conservatories of Florence and Pesaro, and currently
teaches at the Trento one and follows the teaching of music in Maria
SS.Consolatrice Polo School and at the Center of Busoni Empoli.
European Academy
Seminars & Workshops
According with the need to present a much more complete musical proposal, inside the International Polyphonic Meeting event, and by a suggestion of Lorenzo Donati, the Artistic Director, also member of FENIARCO artistic committee and of 'Guido D'Arezzo' Foundation in Arezzo, in 2009 started the organisation of formative events as seminars and workshops.
Taking advantage of the presence in the Festival of important names of the choral polyphonic music and experts of the contemporary way to sing and to compose music for choir, has been held singing and composition seminars.
The course of voice and singing, conducted by Krishna Nagaraja, has been addressed to all those who want to learn to use the voice not just for singing but for creating new rythm and percussive sounds.
The courses, whose participating conditions are shown at the introduction of the new yearly festival edition of the Polyphonic Meeting, are provided for a limited number of people selected after subscription and have a duration of two days. The interested coursists can anyway benefit of a special cheap price hotel accomodation.
